Summer is here?

Summer decided to rear it's head today, Scotlands one and only day of warmness that will need to do us for the next year or two. So after missing breakfast and having to source some from elsewhere, Mark and I decided to take full advantage of it and take a nice trip to the local beach. So we bought mark new trousers, came home and put our summer clothes on and jumped in the car heading beachwards. Unfortunetly the as soon as we parked the car on the beach. The heavens opened as if God himself had decided it was not our day to spend at the beach. After a quick wander up and down the beach and 1 photo we headed back to the car with plans to make the hour trip home again.

Before heading home we decided to check out the local area and see what we could get up to to make the trip worth while. Driving around the next town we noticed a sign for the local wildlife park, I'd seen them online before so we thought 'why not?'

Turns out, it was totally worth the trip and knackering the cars suspension on the driveway to the park itself, one wrong move and we'd have been lost forever!

This quiet little park was packed full of some beautiful critters.

Meercats, all of who were very interested in any human who happened to peek over the fence, a show off peacock who the peahen was pretty much just rolling her eyes at and walking off, tortoises, wild cats, a stunning grey wolf, owls, foxes, wolves that looked suspiciously like foxes, ducks, chickens, birds, parrots and tapirs which I discovered make the most pathetic of squeaks when they want your attention.

One of the wild cats decided to come right to the spot we were standing and tried to climb up to get to me, unfortunetly didn't get a photo of him doing so as he would have ran when we moved. Was tempted to sneak a couple in the back of the car and bring them all home. Mark especially woulda loved the wolf.

After the park, we decided to head for some all you can eat chinese down in Carlisle, how can you beat all you can eat chinese?!

Nice couple of days off spent with the fiance :)

Shame he has to leave for home tomorrow and it's back to work for me.

In other news, congratulations to my handsome hubby to be for finishing his university degree in Forensic Science.

Kittens!

Took a visit to see my new kitten yesterday after having a lovely lunch with my dad and wonderful fiance. We found a pretty road to Langholm full of bends and nice views of the surrounding area.. Didn't get lost once! Wooohoo!
Though we did nearly disappear down a pothole or 2 never to be seen again.. I swear I nearly saw China down one of them!

After lunch we decided to stop by and see the kitten, he's not old enough to come home yet but old enough to stop by for a cuddle :) He and his siblings couldn't get enough cuddles.. or mischief as they are nearly big enough to escape their box now and explore the big bad world alone, much to the annoyance of their mummy's owner lol.

On the way home we stopped by the pet shop and bought his kitty stuff, he's spoiled before he's even home! New bed, new pet carrier (fanciest one in the shop!), new toys, etc.. most of which he probably will neglect for a fancy carrier bag or box lol. Also been trying to think of names for the wee fella.. currently he's nicknamed mike by the kids in the home he's growing up in though I think so far we've decided on Leo. So this is little Leo, and he will be tearing up my house in just 2 weeks.

In the evening we enjoyed a BBQ accompanied by an unnexpected guest.

This Seagull had no problem waltzing right up to us and mooching our dinner. Didn't feed him but he was quick to sweep in and scoop up the crumbs when we were finished!

Hair Cut

Thanks to my lovely fiance who decided to get me a hair cut for my birthday I had all my hair whacked off today! So to the left is a somewhat creepy photo to illustrate what it looks like now.

It's no where near as bright as I had hoped and I feel like it's a bit squif, but it certainly doesn't look any worse than it did before.I guess it's just the way the hairdresser styled it, I'm never sure about a new cut until I can style it myself.

So now that it is too short to put up that means extra time in the mornings cursing the straighteners as I try to make myself look as if someone DIDN'T plug me into the socket to charge over night. Although that could be an interesting look.. and I am sure by the end of a shift at work that is pretty much the look I will be going for anyway! Look at me trying to make out that I work hard hehe.

In other news I finally remembered to purchase tea bags, Crisis averted there!

Is that sunshine I see?

Scotland of course is known for it's glorious sunny days and heatwaves and if you'll believe that you'll believe anything.

So far it's been a cold, wet and snowy year. There has hardly been a day gone by where it hasn't been miserable. Today however the sun is out and with it every pair of sunglasses, shorts and sandles of people trying to catch it while they can. I am always reminded of the old boots advert when I see how people behave when they see a bit of sun in Scotland.. so I thought I would share it to give you all an idea.. makes me giggle everytime!

Anyway, Lets hope it lasts. We're due a bit of summer!

Le Mother Beast, lost cars and other fun stuff

So went out with my mother today for some shopping in a nearby city. As soon as she got in the car she complained about not having a mention in this blog.. so here you go mother. (pictured right).

Anyway, we have a nice little drive to the city, only finding ourselves a little lost in the one way system this time. We drove round 3-4 times today as apposed to our usual 10+ times.  Did a bit of shopping and came back out again, spent a good 5 minutes trying to get in the wrong car before realising ours was parked a few spaces down. So with a lot of giggling and couple of red faces we made our way back to our OWN car and started for home.

On the way home, we managed to lose ASDA, despite practically drivng through it's car park (for those across the pond, ASDA is the UK version of Walmart and fairly difficult not to see) so if anyone know's the whereabouts of it, please return it to it's proper location.

But despite our side of my family missing the sense of direction gene we had a good day.

Topped it off with a lovely roast dinner and a visit from my best mate to discuss wedding type stuff and the state of life in general.
